morah�s first release came from helena hauff�s return to disorder label and this time the athenian producer takes the same techno and electro sound and goes completely berserk for berceuse heroique. morah creates some huge waves of feedback on anarchy, which sounds like a techno version of metal machine music, then he takes the old school viewlexx sound and makes it even more confrontational, on you said no and impasse. looking back is a beautiful, melancholic - but still very dysfunctional - version of the death of a rave. one of the strongest points of this new producer is that his music sounds like the city of athens right now: raw energy mixed with manic depression and pessimism.

the force known as 33.10.3402 has built a cult following in certain circles through the years with his adventerous production approach and execution. with numerous releases on labels such as esp institute, kunstkopf, and most recently second circle we now see his appearence for the first time on l.i.e.s. 33.10.3402 perfectly balances his sound and presentation with this three track effort where we hear tones and rhythms that can go from baleric to metal beat in the blink of an eye. with looming clouds clearing for the light of day and then back again, these tracks sonically play with the emotions and serve equally as dancefloor cuts or for home listening bugout sessions.

gdm (glaswegian dance music) pioneer - sparky (aka dave clark) is back on numbers. having spent the last year on lockdown in his luxurious garden studio we have finally managed to wrestle two tracks out of his ageing hands. signals is an all-new track, first heard on dave�s essential mix for bbc radio 1 (aired as part of jackmaster s made in glasgow), and now in the sets of ben ufo and jd twitch. signals is classic sparky, nailing that sweet spot between the proto-techno sounds of british synth pop and the dancefloor nous of the motor city. the flip is a snarling metal-bashing beast called tigress which comes direct from his archives. we ve been on at him to release this one for almost a decade and after playing a 192 mp3 at a pretty boisterous numbers x optimo party last summer, sparky finally relented. one day we ll convince sparky to let us release all the music sitting in his vaults but for now here are two gems from a man whose music has played a pivotal role in the history of numbers.

founded in september 1981 in orléans, and originally dedicated to a kind of �modern punk rock�, d.stop released a first 7�� the following year. this impossible-to-find debut release is now reissued on vinyl for the first time. the three tracks of the original 7�� are augmented with 4 tracks that are released on vinyl for the first time ever on this very nice translucent vinyl 10�� plus download code. after this first 7�, sonny brailleur (vocals) + phil lethon (guitar/bass) + klod lelook (organ, synths, drum-machines) , inspired by french band metal urbain, stylistically transformed into a more �synth punk� kind of outfit and released their first mini-album nouvelles du front in september 1983 that has been reissued by desire on vinyl last september. one year after, the band already ceased to exist � or actually changed the name to les visiteurs du soir � to turn back to the old name in 1985 by releasing a limited cassette. despite the very few releases by this gifted act, d.stop are considered to be one of the most interesting and under-rated cult acts in french cold wave.

the second of the untld protagonist series, by furz, savours the spirit of alfred tailor, an influential figure in the development of the bright young artist, whose first ep is strong and smooth, with raw energy, sultry and primal. the title track is remixed by laurine frost, who inspired by the south american hypnosis of the artist, takes it further, developing the dialogue and deepening the percussive structure, whilst maintaining the mystique and spirit of alfred tailor. the second original work on the record, entitled torino soul is an ode to the automobile of alfred tailor, it opens serenely as if racing through the valleys of cordoba s horizon, scenery rushing by on a hot day. amidst this, the mechanical metal of the engine revolves in it place, as we are rushed forward, and the voice heard a memory both of the machine and the man, alfred tailor.

subjected, boss of the vault series imprint, makes his warm up debut with his rest one ep. the release includes two original tracks plus a remix by oscar mulero. rest one is based on a cemented beat made of metal hits, fat kicks and abused hi hats. the synthetic sequences, deep sub frequencies and aggressive drones move along the beat changing shape and evolving as the track goes on. shift is the second number, sci-fi arpeggios, subtle kicks, moving percussions and an hypnotic arrangement. oscar mulero reshapes shift by preserving the original arpeggio, adding effects and peppering the track with synth stabs in a constantly changing structure.

polluted system is a track suitable for the main room, the energy of the kick and the bass leave no respite from start to finish as a joint of metal percussion and synths fit gradually to fill the sound spectrum of this track. becomes human machine in a few minutes, using acid and industrial sounds, conveys the idea of the change that is happening around us: people are becoming more and more machines, and this is the soundtrack of the mutation. unlocked human, while remaining in acid and mechanical territories, thanks to a groove of more organic toms and hi hat still let the human element glimpse, not yet deleted by the machines, all accompanied by a relentless kick which makes it a perfect tool from the dancefloor . no system, which give the title to the ep, ends this sequence with dreamy and futuristic atmospheres, the ruling part is still a simple but instantly recognizable acid bass, over breakbeat-oriented rhythmics.
